About this course

You will need to have taken at least
seven subjects at GCSE and
passed English at C, and achieved
a minimum point score of 5 as well
as GCSE Art.at C or above
OR
· Level 2 Diploma (e.g. BTEC First
Diploma) at Distinction and either
GCSE English grade C or Key Skills

A Level Art and Design - Graphic Design
Course Details
This course is suitable for any student who has an interest in the visual arts generally and Graphic Design in particular. Students should have an enthusiasm for research, problem solving,
designing and producing design outcomes.

These include corporate identity, packaging, signage and book
jackets. There is a strong emphasis on looking at the work of graphic designers both past and present.

What will I study?
· Students will work to a series of set briefs and will be expected to produce designs suitable for commercial application.

· Students will become familiar with a basic design methodology that will enable them to develop sound problem solving skills and improve their creativity.

· Students will be encouraged to use various materials and
processes, reflecting contemporary practice in the area.

Coursework and examination at the end of the year

Entry Requirements:
Progression/Careers: UCAS points are gained according to the level of achievement. Students may progress onto University Degrees or HNDs.

However, for students who wish to specialise in Art and Design
subjects at university it is more usual to follow a Foundation course designed to prepare students for degree level work.

Costs/Equipment: Studio Fee: £30, plus materials for personal use and college trips
