seven subjects at GCSE and
passed English at C, and achieved
a minimum point score of 5

· Level 2 Diploma (e.g. BTEC First
Diploma) at Distinction and either
GCSE English grade C or Key Skills

A Level Film Studies
Course Details
Learning and understanding moving images is crucial to the modern world where so much is communicated visually.

Film Studies is a specialist course in which you learn about the industry, the films it produces and the way that audiences respond to them.

· Study of genre, close analysis of extracts and script-writing and video production

· British Film - both historical and contemporary British films

· American Film - includes the study of both Hollywood and
independent film

You will also be taught how to research a project with a final
outcome.

Coursework and examination is at the
end of the year.

Entry Requirements:
Progression/Careers: UCAS points are gained according to your level of achievement. You may progess onto university degrees and HNDs. Degrees and careers in the Arts or Humanities areas, and specifically
Media or Film, will be supported by this qualification.

Careers pathways in film media and communication industries
are possible although they are highly competitive.

Costs/Equipment: Studio Fee: £15 plus materials for
personal use and college trips
