About this course

You will need a minimum of four GCSEs at grade E or above, including Maths and
English at grade D or equivalent Level 1 qualification. However, enthusiasm for the course is also important. Mature students without these qualifications are also invited to apply.

Course Description:
This Intermediate level course helps you to develop a broad understanding of the accounting function within business and provides a great first step on the ladder to the many career opportunities in this area of work.
During the year, you will not only gain many of the technical skills associated with accountancy, but you will also develop your own personal skills in the areas of
communication and IT, so vital for success in the workplace.
Course Content:
This course covers:
· how to record income and expenditure
· make payments, prepare ledger and trial balances, using both paper and computerised
accounting systems
· how the accountancy function supports a business.
This course includes an element of work experience and you will also have the opportunity to develop your key work skills in the areas of communication, application of
number and IT.
Assessment:
Assessment is by a mixture of coursework, in-class testing and external examinations.
Next Steps:
There are lots of employment opportunities once you have successfully completed the
course. If you want to gain further qualifications, you can do the AAT Intermediate Level 3 on a part-time basis. Employers often support their staff in this, either out of their training funds or through the Apprenticeship scheme.
