Course Description:
This course has two intakes, one in September and another in February. International applicants who are applying for Access courses to go into the nursing profession should be aware that they are required to meet a specific three-year residency criteria in order to progress to Higher Education courses.
Course Content: The course is made up of two parts: a 'core' element, including study skills, numeracy and IT, and a 'specialist' element made up of a variety of different subject units that you can combine according to your intended career. Specialist combinations are: · Access to Teaching/Humanities - Environmental Science, History and Literature · Access to Health - Biology, Psychology and Health Studies · Access to Social and Community Studies - Health Studies or Social Policy, Sociology and Psychology.
Assessment: Continuous assessment, contributing to a portfolio of evidence and examinations for three subject units at the end of the course.
Next Steps: Our Access course is designed for individuals who want to go on to a university course, such as a Foundation Degree, HND, Honours Degree or some other professional training, including nursing, midwifery, social work, physiotherapy, podiatry and occupational therapy.
