ACCESS to Media HE Diploma OCN London Region

Level: Level 3

Course content:
The ACCESS to Media course combines theoretical and practical approaches to the study of modern media technologies. It will also prepare you for Higher Education with study skills and IT. You will learn how to write features and news articles, make digital films. In addition, we study and evaluate how media messages are constructed and the different ways that they shape both the world and how we make sense of it. Plus use 16mm as well as using film theory to underpin practical knowledge.

Course Structure:
This is a credit-based course, and to pass you need to gain a minimum of 60 credits. These are accumulated as the year progresses, most through coursework, although examinations are also set in some subject areas. Academic and tutorial support is given throughout the course, and you will receive help and advice with your university applications through the UCAS system.

Course resources:
All students have access to our fully equipped state of the art learning centre. This included free internet access.

Assessment:
Continuous (essays, assignments and presentations).

A degree or other higher education qualification in media or a media related field.

Fees Info
The fee where stated is an 'INCLUSIVE FEE' for UK/EU students. This fee includes the tuition fee, examination fee and exam board registration fee. You may have to pay extra for materials for the course. If you are under 19 years or you are in receipt of an income related benefit the course and exam fee is FREE. Students aged 60+ years pay 70% of this fee. Students aged 19+ will also have to pay a College Registration Fee of £30 (or £20 if you receive benefit) once per academic year.Materials costs:
You may need to buy some Media equipment and provide your own stationery (approximate cost for year - £80). The college may be able to help with these and other study costs for those on low incomes.
