Access to Technical Theatre Skills

Aimed at: People who will generally have life experience skills and are wishing to return to education with their objective being a place in higher education/University and ultimately a career in Theatre Technical Operations/Management.
This is an exciting new programme, delivered at NC level and designed to be a foundation for those wishing to follow a career in Technical Theatre. Formed in conjunction with the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama (RSAMD) and SWAP, the course offers an articulation route to Higher Education programmes.

Additional Information: Units will cover Design, Applied Arts and Construction and Production. Topics within these areas will include:

Location: Easterhouse and East End Campus

Available: Full-Time

Units Include:

• Script/Text Analysis
• Model making/working to scale
• Technical drawing
• Set Construction/Prop making (this covering basic tool use and H and S)
• Colour mixing
• Needlework/sewing machine use
• Stagecraft
• Sound/Light
• Aspects of Flying
• Communication
• Numeracy
• ICT
• There will be an opportunity to use the above skills to stage a live event.

Progression:

• Degree Level BA Technical Production Arts at RSAMD
• Employment as Technician in Theatre, Arts Centres
