Admin & Secretarial Skills Level 2 NVQ
Provides students with the skills and knowledge for a career in Business and Administration. Suitable for post GCSE students or those who have been employed and now want to achieve a qualification.

Course Content:
The course incorporates the following qualifications:

  • OCR NVQ Level 2 in Business and Administration
  • OCR Level 2 Certificate
  • /Diploma in Text Processing (Intermediate)

  • OCR Level 2 Key Skills
    • OCR NVQ Level 2 in Business and Administration
    • This qualification is entirely work-related and is based on a broad range of competencies from the administration sector. The qualification is competence-based with skills, knowledge and competences being assessed in a practical way. It provides students with an opportunity to demonstrate the skills and knowledge needed for a career in business and administration. To achieve full certification of the NVQ, five units (two mandatory and three optional as outlined below) must be completed and assessed as competent. Portfolios are internally and externally verified to ensure that standards have been met.

    • /Diploma in Text Processing (Intermediate) These units aim to develop students ability to produce a range of business documents in a work-related context. They are widely recognised by employers as the benchmark qualifications in text processing. The Level 2 Certificate is awarded to students achieving the core unit of Text production (Intermediate) plus one other unit from those listed below. The Level 2 Diploma is awarded to students achieving the core unit plus three other units from those listed below:

    • Business presentations (Intermediate)
    • Word processing (Intermediate)
    • Audio-transcription (Intermediate)
    • Mailmerge (Intermediate)
    • OCR Level 2 Key Skills
    • Employers are looking for people who can communicate well in speaking and writing, who are keen to learn, who use new technology to find, develop and present information, who get on with other people and work as part of a team and who manage their own work and look for how they can improve. The following Key Skills qualifications, which are an integral part of this course, aim to develop these qualities and will help add value to your CV::

    Entry Process:
    All applicants will be invited to an interview with the tutor, allowing you to find out more and check that the course is the best option for you. Interviews normally take place between January and September of the year in which the course starts.

    Assessment:
    Assessment differs for each of the subjects you study. For some it is based on continuous assessment, whereas others have formal examinations.

    Progression Routes:
    Students successfully completing this course may be able to progress to the Secretarial/PA course (Diploma in Administration) run by the College.

    Career Options:
    A wide range of interesting positions is available for suitably qualified Administrators and Secretaries.
