Is the course for me?
The BTEC First Diploma in Art and Design aims to provide a specialist work-related qualification in a range of sectors. It has been designed and developed to provide the knowledge, understanding and skills necessary to prepare learners for employment and/or to provide career development opportunities for thoses already in work.

What will I learn?
The course aims to provide a board-based approach to the art and design sector, with mandatory units in 2D and 3D Visual Communication, Contextual References in Art and Design, Exploring and Developing Ideas and Producing Art and Design Outcomes. Learners will have the opportunity to acquire and develop visual communication skills and techniques using a wide range of media and materials. Learners also have the opportunity to develop skills within specialist areas of art and design, such as Textiles and Graphics.

How will I be assessed?
The course will be continually assessed culminating in a final major project during the final term, resulting in a end of year Exhibition.

What can I do after the course?
On successful completion of a BTEC First qualification, you may progress into or within employment and/or continue your study in the vocational area of art and design at Warrington Collegiate, for example onto National Diploma Art and Design.
