Recommended entry requirement is one of the following: A minimum of 4 GCSE's at grade 'C' or above. First Diploma in Art and Design. First Diploma Design. Double Award Applied GCSE Art & Design at grade 'C', 'C' or above, supported by one other GCSE at grade 'C' or above. Home schooled or mature students may gain entry through the submission of a relevant portfolio of Art & Design work.

Course Content
This is an exciting new combination of courses aimed at creating a full-time vocational route leading directly to Higher Education or employment. Students will have the opportunity to participate in the diagnostic National Diploma in Art & Design Course, exploring a range of areas including Fashion, Textiles, Graphics, Illustration, Digital photography, Multimedia, Interior Design, Product Design, Painting, Sculpture, Professional Practice and Contextual Studies prior to specialising in either Fine Art or one of the Design disciplines through specialist Diplomas.
Course Features
The combination of courses is equivalent to four traditional academic A levels. i.e. The National Diploma in Art Design is equivalent to 3 A levels, and the Specialist Diplomas are each equivalent to a further A level when taken in conjunction with Key Skills in Communication, Improving Own Learning and Performance, Problem Solving.
Opportunity to participate in an exhibition of own work, which is open to the public.
Current attainment levels of top grades well above the National Comparators.
All students who applied for a Degree/Higher National Diploma study were placed first or second choice for the last eight years.
The opportunity to experience a wide range of traditional and contemporary art, design and digital skills including video and photography.
The opportunity to participate in study placments.

Core Units :- Drawing Development, Historical and Contextual Understanding, Materials, Techniques and Processes, Ideas and Concepts, Visual Communication, Art & Design Exploration, Art & Design Application, Art & Design Realisation. Specialist:- Professional Practice, Design Method. Additional Units/Diploma in specialist area of own choice:- i.e. Graphic Design, Photography, Fashion Design, Textile Design, 3D Design, Multimedia, Fine Art, Design / Crafts.
Method of Assessment
Continuous assessment culminating in a self-initiated Final Major Project in the Specialist area of your choice.
