'AS' and 'A2' Music Technology
Two-Year Course

This course encourages students to communicate through music and take part in music making, developing particular strengths and interests in the process. It encourages students to engage in, and to appreciate, the heritage of music and its diversity.
Students wishing to study Music Technology should enjoy creating and listening to different styles of music and wish to extend their practical experience and understanding of the subject. ?It is useful to have studied music or Information Technology at GCSE Level but this is not essential.
Development in the following ?subject areas will take place:
· Development of technology in Music
· Music from the Western Classical tradition
· Popular Music and Jazz
· Music for the 'moving image' and 'words and music'
The 'A' Level has been designed to incorporate practical and externally assessed work - this may include sequencing and recording of musical performances, ability to listen to unfamiliar work and analysing musical, technical and stylistic features.
