What you will study The course consists of six units covering organic, inorganic and physical chemistry which you study over two years. Two of these units involve an assessment of your investigative and practical skills which will have been developed by carrying out experiments in the laboratory. The first year (AS level) revises knowledge from GCSE level and introduces new concepts. The second year (A2 level) builds upon the topics studied at AS. How you will learn A variety of learning methodologies are used including lecturer-led discussions; laboratory work; tutorials covering exam technique and individual assignments. Notes are provided throughout the course, together with practice questions tailored to the needs of individual students. How you will be assessed Throughout the course your level of attainment will be gauged by regular tests and homework assignments. During the two years you will sit four unit examinations (re-sits available) and your practical work will be assessed in two practical examinations. Attendance The AS plus A2 course lasts 2 years. As a full-time students you will be expected to attend all classes as specified on your timetable, all personal tutorial sessions and additional workshops/one to one sessions.

Course Costs Tuition and certification are free if you are aged 16-18 years old. Related additional costs may include materials, equipment, visits, residentials etc. which are payable by all students.
Any student entered/registered with an Awarding Body who has been given free entry and then withdraws or is withdrawn by a tutor will incur the certification fee associated with the course. Any resit examination will incur a cost.
Different fees apply to international students.
