This is an excellent subject for students on a range of courses including all our vocational (work-related) subjects. Unlike A Level Maths, this course is concerned with the application of the subject in science, IT, business, psychology, geography and social sciences. At the heart of your study is the idea of using mathematical modelling to explain aspects of the world. You will use real data and analyse with computers using Microsoft Excel and Autograph. Topics include modelling the effect of a chain letter, looking at blood pressure data and modelling UK inflation statistics over the last 25 years.

One great advantage of Use of Maths over other subjects is that you get UCAS points for individual units that you pass.

Where this course might take me:
Use of Maths will prepare you for many maths-based careers and a variety of Higher Education courses. AS Use of Maths is useful if you are studying Business or ICT/Computing.
