Course Description
Dance Practice is designed for the creative dancer, who is interested in exploring contemporary dance and choreography. The dance modules allow for a balance of continuing development of your practical dance skills as well as furthering your knowledge in choreography, dance for camera and digital performance.
The course gives you the opportunity to work within interdisciplinary settings and create original work with theatre, music, and music technology students. Past Guest Artists have included: Australian Dance Theatre, Robert Swinton, Hype Dance Company, Electronic Dance Theatre, Troika Ranch, Sarah Rubidge and Frieder Weiss.

Course Assessment
You will be assessed through a variety of means, including essays, performances, projects and presentations.
Entry requirements
A successful interview and audition, and the attainment of one of the following qualifications:
- Minimum UCAS Tariff Points- 160
- Art Foundation Diploma- Pass/Merit Profile
- BTEC National Diploma in a relevant subject- Merit/Distinction Profile
- Adult Access to HE- Pass/Merit Profile
- Accreditation of Prior Learning (APL)
- Applications are invited from mature students without formal qualifications who can demonstrate a capability to pursue the course successfully.
Progression Routes
This course is designed to be both an exciting and a relevant learning experience for students, and the combination of both theoretical and practical knowledge is essential for a world in which performance is increasingly using mixed approaches. In both popular and classical culture, performances commonly use a variety of independent media: dance, film/video, sound, choreography in conjunction with digital/computer based technologies. Graduates will have acquired skills that should equip them for employment across a variety of rapidly developing cultural and media industries.
