This course is free if you are under 19. While we will not be able to confirm final fee rates until nearer your enrolment date, you may be eligible for a reduced fee rate if you are over 19.
Course Description:
If you are looking to work as a junior barber, this course enables you to gain the practical skills necessary for employment.

Course Content:
The course covers:

• cutting facial hair
• barbering techniques
• hair and scalp massage
• drying hair
• health and safety
• customer care.

In addition, you have the opportunity to develop your Key Skills.

Assessment:
Continuous practical, oral and written assessment throughout the course, leading to the production of a portfolio to demonstrate competence.

Next Steps:
Employment as a junior stylist at a barbers and progression to the Hairdressing NVQ Level 2 or Barbering Level 3 course.

Duration: 1 year

Entry Requirements:
Four GCSEs at grade E or above, ideally including English, Maths and Science or an NVQ Level 1 qualification. You are also required to successfully complete an initial assessment, interview and a taster session prior to a place being offered. You will need to demonstrate the following: good communication and teamwork skills, smart appearance, some practical ability and a keen interest in the industry.
