Beauty Therapy Level 2 Certificate
This full time course is aimed at those wishing to pursue a career within the beauty therapy industry. It provides both the required theoretical knowledge and practical skills in beauty therapy.

Course Content:

Key Skills:

• 16-18 year olds
: As part of the Diploma in Beauty Therapy you will be required to study Communication, Improve own Learning and Performance and Information Communication Technology.
• 19 years old plus
: As part of the Diploma in Beauty Therapy you will be required to study Improve own Learning and Performance and Functional English.

Work Experience / Practical Experience:
All students are required to undertake one day per week work experience in a suitable industry placement (salon, spa). Finding a work experience placement is the responsibility of the student.

Attendance Requirements:
A good level of attendance is expected (85% or above) to enable all aspects of the course to be fulfilled. A high attendance percentage is also considered when progressing on to Level 3

Kit/Uniform:
A uniform is compulsory for this course in accordance with Industry Codes of Practice. The college dress code for this course is very specific and details will be given out at enrolment. The uniform consists of a white dress or tunic and trousers/skirt with flat, enclosed white shoes with a non-slip sole. Kit Fees: Approximately 120 (includes full kit for the year and textbook) Uniform Fees: Approximately 75 (covers tunic x 2, trousers/skirt x 2 and shoes)

Assessment:
Students will be assessed by a combination of the following methods:
• Practical exams
• Online multiple choice and written exams in specific units
• Graded assignment work (linked to industry requirements and subject knowledge)


Progression Routes:
Students successfully completing this course can be considered for progression to the Level 3 Diploma in Beauty Therapy. Students that successfully complete this course are qualified to work as beauty therapists within many professional industry settings including salons, spas, cruise liners and may move into the field of medical aesthetics.

Career Options:
Students that successfully complete the Diploma at Level 2 will be qualified to work as beauticians within the salon environment. Other opportunities include product retailing, consultancy and working as a technical representative for professional product and equipment ranges.
