Biology - AS & A Level
You would choose this course in order to learn more about the science of living things and the scientific method of working and investigating. You will learn of the importance of new technology in biology and come to understand the value of biology in the modern world. You will develop your ability to handle microscopes, methods of collecting and analysing information, and practical skills. You will learn about the cells of living things, enzymes, photosynthesis, evolution, reproduction, the nervous system, diseases, ecosystems, the environmental impact of people, and biochemistry. You will undertake educational visits to widen your experience.

AS = 1 year, A Level = 2 years.

What will I need to follow the course?

What will I study?
You will have the opportunity to study the following topics:

Will I have to sit any examinations?
There will be an examination at the end of each module. You will be assessed on your practical work.

What will I have at the end of the course?
On successful completion of the course, you will gain an AS certificate in Biology. You can study the subject for another year and gain an A level certificate.

What next?
You will then be able to follow an HND or degree course. Some of our students have pursued a career in medicine, veterinary medicine, agriculture, education, conservation, planning, countryside management, and speech therapy.
