This course provides a thorough training for those wishing to work in the trade and for those who have completed the Level 1 Diploma in Bricklaying.
Course Content:
You will learn techniques of brickwork as well as how to use various tools ranging from hand tools through to power tools. The units you will study include:
- 1001K : Know how to carry out safe working practices in construction
- 1001S : Carry out safe working practices in construction
- 2002K : Knowledge of information, quantities and communicating with others 2
- 2002S : Information, quantities and communicating with others 2
- 2003K Knowledge of building methods and construction technology 2
- 2003S : Building methods and construction technology 2
- 2045K : Know how interpret working drawings to set out masonry structures
- 2045S : Interpret working drawings to set out masonry structures
- 2046K : Knowledge of thin joint masonry and masonry cladding
- 2046S ; Thin joint masonry and masonry cladding
- 2047K : Know how to build solid walling, isolated and attached piers
- 2047S : Build solid walling, isolated and attached piers
- 2048K : Know how to build cavity walling forming masonry structures

All applicants will be invited to an interview with the tutor, allowing you to find out more and check that the course is the best option for you. Interviews normally take place between January and September of the year in which the course starts.
Assessment:
Students are assessed through workshop observations, end of unit exams, assignments and on-line tests.
Progression Routes:
Students may progress to NVQ level 2 or level 3 Diploma in Bricklaying.
Career Options:
Upon successful completion students may gain employment in the bricklaying industry.
