Course Summary:
This Brickwork Level 1 Diploma at Nescot is a full-time course but part-time day or part-time evening options are available to fit in with your personal and work needs. The combination of practical and theory sessions will enable you to gain good practical skills with underpinning job knowledge of Brickwork. You will work towards achieving 7 units of competence throughout the year which will culminate in an end of year City & Guilds examination.

- Know how to carry out basic blocklaying skills
- Know how to carry out basic bricklaying skills

- Know how to contribute to setting out and building basic masonry structures up to damp course level.

- Successful completion of the foundation programme will give you the skills and knowledge which will enable you to progress to the Level 2 Diploma.

Functional Skills in Numeracy and Literacy are included in the Full Time programme along with both group and one to one tutorials and enrichment activities. You will be given details of course materials, stationery and the health and safety equipment you will require when you enrol on the programme.

Career Progression:
On successful completion of the programme you may progress to the Level 2 (Brickwork) Diploma.

Other Information:

Students are required to provide steel toe-capped boots and overalls for practical work.

Requirement
FULL TIME COURSES ARE ONLY OPEN TO PEOPLE AGED UNDER 19 YEARS ON 31ST AUGUST PRIOR TO COMMENCEMENT OF THE COURSE. 2 GCSE's at grade D or above, one of which must be in Maths. In order to ensure that your course suits both your career plans and abilities you will have an informal advisory interview with a construction tutor. Your discussion with the tutor will be for approximately 30 minutes and you will have the opportunity to ask questions and to find out more about the content of the course.
