Course Description:
To develop your physical skills and experience in a range of different dance skills including ballet, tap, jazz and contemporary dance. Lincoln College has superb new performing arts facilities to support student's development
Content
You will have the opportunity to extend your creative and compositional dance skills through devising, creating and performing a range of dance pieces which you will then perform. The course is project based enabling learners to build up dance, choreography and performance skills through workshops, rehearsals and a series of performances. Theoretical understanding of physical theatre, the performing arts business and the historical context of dance is integrated into practical work. There is an emphasis on performing as part of a group as well as developing individual skills and disciplines. There will be opportunities to work on real projects with other courses at the college as well as institutions in the local community

Entry Requirements:
A successful audition and interview are pre-requisite to entry. A keen interest in the subject area is also necessary.
Assessment and Progression:
Students learn and are assessed by completing projects based on realistic briefs and the demands of the theatre.
Progression
The qualification is equivalent to three A Levels therefore successful students may progress to higher education studies or Drama / Dance Schools. The performing arts department has good links with local and national production companies, performance venues and theatre organisations, providing valuable opportunities for future employment
Duration:
Two years.
Fees: If you are under 19 on 31st August when your programme begins you are entitled to free tuition, provided you are a European Community national. Mature students may also qualify for free tuition and no examination fees. Please ask our Student Services for details.
