Course Description
You will develop a range of employability skills and techniques including personal qualities and the ability essential for success in working life. You develop skills and knowledge in land and environment, animal and horse care.

Course Assessment
This is a portfolio based assessment qualification. Assessments will be made on practical ability also knowledge and understanding of set criteria. Completion of all units is required to PASS the qualification. MERIT and DISTINCTION grading criteria can be achieved with a qualitative improvement in learner†s evidence.

Course Entry Requirements

• 2 GCSEs grades G and above

• All applicants must complete an initial assessment in Maths and English and attend an interview
• The course is ideal for those who have an interest in animals and their environment and for those who want to explore employment possibilities in the agricultural and land based sector.

Course Costs
There are no course fees if you are under 19 years old on 31 August 2010. However, you may have to pay for textbooks, personal kits, uniforms, trips and personal stationery. You will be informed of these at your interview.

You will be required to purchase a set uniform from the college.

Course Enrichment
Activities such as trips and visits will be arranged, which are beneficial to this course and your learning. These activities are optional and additional fees will be charged to you. Details will be provided at the time of interview.

Course Progression
On completion you can progress to the Work Based Animal Care or other land based qualifications
