BTEC First Diploma in Construction Level 2Duration
One year full time

Attendance
You are expected to be available to attend college Monday to Thursday 9am to 5.30pm and Friday 9am to 4.30pm.

Detailed attendance will be available at interview

Course Description
This is for people who wish to be employed in a construction discipline such as:

Architectural Design, Estimating, Planning,

Buying, Surveying, Property, Housing,

Site Engineer etc.

Course Structure
The course consists of 6 units: 3 core units, 3 specialist units.

Core Units:
  • Introduction to the Construction Industry
  • Investigating Health, Safety and Welfare
  • Construction Science and Mathematics


Specialist Units:
  • Construction Process and Operations
  • Construction Methods and Techniques
  • Construction Drawing Techniques


You will need a willingness to work independently or as part of a small study group under the direct supervision of the course tutor.

All units are assessed and graded and an overall grade for the qualification is awarded.

Course Assessment

Assessment is covered by written assignments for each unit which will be marked against a set criteria and graded pass, merit and distinction

Course Entry requirements
  • 4 GCSEs grades D and above including Mathematics and Science.
  • A BTEC Foundation Level 1 GNVQ in Construction and the Built Environment
  • Possible progression from an appropriate Construction NVQ at Level 1 or 2 with technical experience appropriate to this level of study.

  • All applicants must complete an initial assessment in Maths and English and attend an interview.
  • More mature learners may present a more varied profile of achievement that is likely to include experience of paid and/or unpaid employment.
