Course description
This is a Level 2 course which is aimed at young people who wish to work in the countryside. It has a high practical content and you will learn and practice a wide range of new skills. Alongside developing practical skills you will also learn aspects of countryside management and environmental science.
Topics you will study include:
• Industry and Organisations
• Estate and Habitat Management
• Industrial Experience
• Woodland Management
• Countryside Recreation
• Environmental Science
A period of time on work placement is included in the programme. Functional Skills are embedded into the programme to allow you to develop your skills in literacy, number and the use of IT.
There are no exams. The course is assessed by a series of assignments and coursework.

Entry requirements
2 GCSEs at grade D or above and a minimum of Entry Level 3 in literacy and numeracy OR NVQ1 in a land-based subject plus Entry Level 3 literacy and numeracy.

This course is offered at Common Leys Farm.
