BTEC First Diploma Performing Arts (Acting)

Length of Course: 1 year

Course Description: This Level 1 course is highly practical covering a range of skills in drama, singing and dance. It allows students to experience all elements of the Performing Arts. Modules include:

• Performing Arts Production Processes
• Performing Dance
• Acting
• Musical Theatre
• Devising
• Performing Arts in Business and Design for Stage

Students take part in a variety of productions throughout the year, and tour a production to the local community as part of their final project. Students also benefit from regular Theatre trips and visiting Theatre productions and workshops.

Entry Requirements:

• Available to students interested in pursuing a career in Performing Arts. It would be highly desirable to have relevant experience but not essential.
• Entry is by audition and by obtaining 2 GCSEs at grade D or above or
• A full GNVQ Foundation Award or equivalent.

Progression/Career Opportunities: On completion of the First Diploma, students can consider progression to a BTEC National Diploma in either Performance; Music Technology; Popular Music or Musical Theatre.
