PROGRAMME CONTENT/STRUCTURE
This course is aimed at students who have an interest in, or wish to apply to the public and uniformed services for example, Police, Fire, Ambulance, Army, Navy and Air Force. In addition to classroom based activities, students will also have the opportunity to participate in a wide range of visits and adventure training exercises.
In addition to studying Key Skills the subjects covered will include:
Crime and its Effects;
First Aid;
Fitness;
Map Work and Navigation;
Outdoor Activities; and
Public Service Work and Skills.
As part of the Programme, all students will be required to attend Army Cadets at Clapham Junction.
PROGRESSION/CAREERS OPPORTUNITIES
On successful completion of this qualification students will be able to progress onto the BTEC National Certificate/Diploma in Public Services or other FE Level 3 qualifications at Croydon College or other institutions.
ASSESSMENT STRUCTURE A number of different strategies can be employed to assure the achievement of unit outcomes. They may be in the form of assigments, research projects, presentations, mock interviews and selection test.
