WHAT'S IT ALL ABOUT?
On this course you will receive an introduction to the Travel and Tourism industries, both locally and nationally. A BTEC First Diploma gives you a good start to your career whether you want to go on to take higher qualifications or get a job straight away. You will gain experience of working with other people, problem solving and meeting deadlines. You learn to use information technology and develop a good understanding of customer service and the skills required to work in these fast developing industries.

WHAT ARE MY COMMITMENTS?
You will need to attend classes for approximately 20 hours per week. In addition you will need to spend 5 hours per week on coursework at home or in college. You will need to complete assignments to set deadlines.

WHAT WILL I STUDY?
You will study 6 units within your BTEC First Diploma as listed below:

Exploring Customer Service in Travel and Tourism
The UK Travel and Tourism Industry
Exploring Marketing in Travel and Tourism
UK Travel and Tourism Destinations
European Holiday Destinations
Optional Unit

You will also study towards some professional qualifications:

City & Guilds Travel Destinations Level 1 & 2

The College is committed to you studying for national qualifications in Maths, English and ICT within your vocational course. This will help you get the most out of your work, education and everyday life.

On your course you will have a tutorial period, which is designed to support your learning and assist your progress. In addition there are activities to enrich your experience.

WHAT WILL I ACHIEVE?
You will obtain the BTEC First Diploma in Travel & Tourism, (equivalent to 4 GCSE at C or above) plus a City and Guilds Travel Destinations level 1 and 2. You will also complete a programme of Functional Skills in English, Maths and ICT. These Functional Skills are an essential requirement for employment progression, higher education and other further education courses.

1b102-09 Course fees 0 16-18 year olds, 624(43) 19 years and over

Course fees are payable on enrolment. Costs shown in brackets are for those on income-based benefits. Refunds are not normally available.
