Studying BTEC Introductory Diploma in Hospitality, Travel and Tourism provides a specialist qualification that focuses on particular aspects of employment within the industry.
You will learn the importance of serving customers well and you will carry out an investigation into working within the hospitality, travel and tourism industry. Within the course you will have the chance to research different employment opportunities, put together travel itineraries and produce displays.
What will be studied on the course?
Learners will study 8 units ( 3 compulsory units and 5 optional units).
The three compulsory units are
- Unit 1 - Starting Work in Hospitality, Travel and Tourism
- Unit 2 - Working in Hospitality, Travel and Tourism
- Unit 3 - Introduce Customer Care
The timetable will also include Key Skills.
When does the course start and how long does it last?
This course starts in September and lasts for one academic year ending in June.

At our Consett campus.
How will the learner be assessed?
All units will be assessed through a variety of internal assessment methods, including written assignments, role-play, group work activities, displays and presentations.
Within the BTEC Introductory Diploma, the qualification grade will be achieved by combining the performance across the best two of the 60 hour units making up the qualification.
How much will the course cost?
You will be asked to contribute to the cost of the transport and entry costs of educational visits.

On successful completion of this course at Merit grade learners could progress to
