Course Description:
The BTEC Level 3 Subsidiary Diploma in Business is a practical, work-related course which allows you to learn by completing projects and assignments. You will develop business knowledge and skills as well as vocational knowledge in specific business areas. The Subsidiary Diploma in Business is equivalent to 1 GCE A Level.

Eligible students will also study the Certificate in Financial Studies. The Certificate in Financial Studies is an AS equivalent qualification recognised by UCAS as well as the financial services industry.

Content - BTEC Level 3 Subsidiary Diploma in Business:

You will study 4 mandatory units and 2 optional units.

Mandatory Units

• The Business Environment
• Business Resources
• Introduction to Marketing
• Business Communication

Content - Certificate in Financial Studies

Students Study 3 Units:

• Why Money Matters
• Risk and Reward
• Making Personal Financial Judgements

Students under 19 will also undertake functional skills in Maths and English.

Assessment and Progression:
BTEC Subsidiary Diploma in Business units are assessed and graded, and an overall grade for the qualification is awarded. Grades awarded are Pass, Merit or Distinciton. All units are internally assessed.

The Certificate in Financial Studies is assessed by 2 multiple choice external exams and a case study.

On completion of the BTEC Subsidiary Diploma in Business, you may progress to a BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Business(equivalent to 2 A-Levels). On completion of the Certificate in Financial Studies you may progress to the Diploma in Financial Studies.
