Course Details

You will study the following units: Investigating Travel and Tourism The Business of Travel and Tourism The UK as a Destination Customer Service in Travel and Tourism Marketing Travel and Tourism Products and Services Preparing for Employment in the Travel and Tourism Industry The European Travel Market Long-haul Travel Destinations Retail and Business Travel Operations Investigate the Cruise Sector Tour Operations Special Interest Tourism Handling Air Passengers The Appeal and Importance of UK Travel Destinations Hospitality Operations In Travel and Tourism Roles and Responsibilities of Holiday Representatives Entertainment for Holidaymakers Residential Study Visit In addition you will complete Key Skills qualifications in Communication, Application of Number and ICT

Qualifications required:
4 GCSEs grade A-C (including English Language) or a City and Guilds/BTEC First Diploma qualification at Credit/Merit or Distinction grade and Key Skills Level 2 Communication and Level 1 Application of Number. A satisfactory reference may be required.

Additional info:
Educational visits are an essential part of this course and provide excellent opportunities for research to obtain information for coursework. It is not possible to achieve the full qualification without participating in an overseas residential visit. Because of this students must be in possession of a full passport and be in a position to obtain a visa to leave and re-enter the UK. You will need to make a contribution of approximately ?500 over the two years of the course towards the cost of the visits, depending on the final programme of visits arranged.

Progression:
Higher education, or a career in the UK or overseas. Employment opportunities exist in the following areas: leisure and business travel agency work, tour operation, overseas holiday rep work, air cabin crew, the cruise industry, customer service in theme parks and other tourist attractions.
