Description of course:
This course includes a series of units on positive relationships, positive environments, childrens development, safeguarding children, promoting childrens rights, learning activities and play, professional practice and three other optional units. You will also produce a portfolio of observations, routines and activities and will carry out a longitudinal study of a baby or young child. You will also spend alternate weeks in placement at college.

Method of assessment:
All units are internally assessed and graded to pass, merit or distinction level. In order to meet a pass grade, learners must meet the assessment criteria as set out by the awarding body. There are no external examinations.

Progression opportunities and careers:
The BTEC National Certificate in Early Years will also give you a professional qualification which gives you licence to practice in a wide range of Early Years settings or you can go onto HNC/HND/Degree courses.

Entry requirements:
A minimum of 4 GCSEs grade C or above or a pass grade at a Level 2 vocational course.

GCSE English at grade C or above

Additional qualifications studied:
