These are broad-based Public Services courses consisting of 12 units (Certificate) and 18 units (Diploma). These courses prepare students for careers in the public and uniformed services for example, Police, Fire Brigade, Ambulance, Army, Navy and Air Force. PROGRAMME CONTENT/STRUCTURE
These are broad-based Public Services courses consisting of 12 units (Certificate) and 18 units (Diploma). These courses prepare students for careers in the public and uniformed services for example, Police, Fire Brigade, Ambulance, Army, Navy and Air Force. As well as classroom-based activities, students will also have the opportunity to participate in a wide range of visits and adventure training exercises.
In addition to studying Key Skills the subjects covered will include:
Expedition Skills;
Health, Fitness and First Aid;
Law;
Preparation for Entry to Public Service;
Psychology;
Sociology;
Teamwork and Sport.
Under 18's, as part of the Course criteria will attend Army Cadets at Clapham Junction ~ one day a week.
*Subject to demand and timetabling these qualifications could be combined with AS/A level and/or other awards in certain subjects.
PROGRESSION/CAREERS OPPORTUNITIES
On successful completion of this course students will be able to progress onto HE courses at Croydon College or other institutions.
ASSESSMENT STRUCTURE A number of different strategies can be employed to assure the achievement of unit outcomes. They may be in the form of assingments, research projects, presentations, mock interviews and selection test.
