Course Description
This is a two year part-time programme of study and you will be required to attend college as an infill student on the BTEC National Diploma programme to complete the required number of units [12].
This programme is particularly suitable for those who are already employed in the Health and Social Care Sector and who would like to extend their knowledge in this area.
This course is a progression from the First Diploma, although you may come directly on to the programme. The National Certificate provides a specialist work-related programme of study that covers the key knowledge and practical skills required in the Health and Social Care Sector. It is broadly equivalent to two A Levels.
There are opportunities for you to gain additional qualifications in Effective listening Skills and Information Technology (dependant upon attendance on additional days).

The programme consists of 9 core units plus specialist units.

All students undertake at least three placements over the course duration in a range of Health and Social Care settings.
If you are employed in a health and social care setting and your employers are supportive of your use of your employment to gain evidence for your qualification, it is possible for you to use this setting as your work experience.
Assessment
Assessment is continuous, by completion of unit assignments.
Trips and Enrichment Activities
You will be encouraged to participate in college activities and external events such as the Personal Development Day organised by the Army.
