Course Description: This course is suitable for those who are either in or plan to enter employment in the Animal Industry or those who wish to progress to higher level courses.
The course comprises of practical sessions underpinned with theoretical knowledge in a variety of subjects including:
- Exotic Animals
- Wildlife Rehabilitation and Management
- Pet Store Management
- Nutrition and Science.
In addition to the National Diploma students studying this course will also have the opportunity to gain qualifications in Advanced Welsh Bacculaureate, Advanced Certificate in Pet Store Management. In association with Deloitte Employability skills, students achieve BTEC level 2 short course in skills for employability.
Entry Requirements:
- BTEC First Diploma in Animal Care (overall Merit or Distinction) or
- 4 GCSEs at grade C or equivalent including Science, Mathematics and English.
Progression/Career Opportunities:
- Higher Education, e.g. HND/Degree or
- Employment within the industry at a supervisory level/veterinary nurse training.
