Description of course:
The course aims to provide practical skills that may be transferred to a business environment. A two week work placement is also included. Units of study include: Year 1, exploring business activity, investigating business resources, introduction to marketing, effective people, communication and information, introduction to accounting, health & safety in the workplace, investigating internet marketing, exploring team development, understanding business ethics. Year 2, understanding financial accounting, exploring creative product promotion, career development, starting a small business, exploring business and the economic environment, understanding retailing, human resource management in business, managing a business event, business law.

Method of assessment:
Internally assessed coursework.

Progression opportunities and careers:
You may progress to university to study at degree level or you may choose to go to work.

Entry requirements:
A minimum of 5 GCSEs grade C or above or a merit/distinction grade at a Level 2 vocational course.

Additional qualifications studied:
All full time students will undertake a combination of additional qualifications that will enhance their study skills and those skills that will be important in employment.
