ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
Applicants will have a portfolio of Art and Design work and will have met one of the following entry requirements and attended a successful interview with satisfactory references providing information on behaviour, punctuality and attendance:
Portfolio of Art and Design work
4 GCSEs at grades A* - C; or
GNVQ Intermediate in Art and Design; or
BTEC First Certificate/Diploma in a related subject; or
Other recognised UK/Overseas related FE Level 2 awards.
PROGRAMME CONTENT/STRUCTURE
The course is structured around a series of thematic terms that enable students to experience, through project work, the broad-range of disciplines that are involved in the generation of Graphic Design work. Progression to the second year of this course is dependant upon successful completion of the year one units.
In the second year students engage with a lively and exeperiemtal learning process, exetending experiences from year 1. Students are encouraged to develop a personal body of work investigating specific areas of Graphic design: Typography, Advertising, Desk Top Publishing, and Conceptual Graphics and Image Making. These unit prepare students for the Final Major Project in which projects must be designed and executed reflecting a personal interest and future progression routes.
Students may progress onto a Foundation Degree or Degree level course in Graphics or a related subject at Croydon Higher Education College or other institutions. Alternatively, students may seek a junior position in the Graphic Design industry.
