Course Description
Moving image for film and TV provides the core of your studies on this two year course, but it also offers you the opportunity to study sound recording, interview and presentation techniques. You will also study media theory and the products and exploration of relevant industries. This is a practical, work-related course, equivalent to three A Levels. You learn by completing projects based on workplace situations.
Students have recently taken part in live industry briefs and completed two commissioned videos for a local firm, Radical Technologies. These videos will be used to promote the company worldwide and have also been submitted for exhibition on the Discovery Channel by the company themselves.
Media students also completed a film commission for Café Sci, highlighting their innovative science project aimed at secondary schools. Students shot footage in various locations and produced an animated film. The commissioning charity was extremely pleased with the video and has invited the students involved to a presentation of awards ceremony in London.
Course Content
The course is made up of 18 units, five core units and 13 Specialist units. Core units look at research, professional practice in the media industry and critical approaches. Each unit is graded, and an overall grade for the qualification is awarded.

Course Length and Study Pattern
This is a two year full-time course with timetabled hours in college and supported independent study.

Assessment
Assessment is by coursework. You undertake 18 practical and theory-based units, and assessment takes place throughout the year.

Annual trip to (usually) London. Regular trips to local business and academic institutions.
