4 GCSEs at grades A* - C; or
GNVQ Intermediate in a related subject; or
BTEC First Diploma in a related subject; or
Other recognised UK/Overseas related FE Level 2 awards.

PROGRAMME CONTENT/STRUCTURE
This course is for those students who wish to train for professional work as performers in dance and acting and musical theatre. Consisting of 18 units this course will provide the skills needed to move, sing and act upon the stage and will be a good prepartion for studying Acting or Dance at university or specialist dance or drama schools. The course is geared to practical and vocational work, which will establish basic skills and good working practice for performers as well as seeking to develop students' experience and imagination in performance. There will also be instruction in how the entertainment industry works and how Performing Arts relates to and interacts with society.
In addition to studying Basic Skills the subjects covered will include:
Acting;
Contemporary Dance;
Film and TV Acting;
Jazz Dance;
Musical Theatre Performnace;
Performance Workshop and Project;
Performing Arts Business;
The Historical Context of Performing Arts ;
Physical Theatre;
Singing for Actors and Dancers;
Dance Performance;
Contemporary Theatre Performance;
Technical Theatre; and
Voice for the Actor.
PROGRESSION/CAREERS OPPORTUNITIES
Progression to Level 4 specialist drama / performing arts courses, or study at HE in performing arts, drama / dance or related studies
ASSESSMENT STRUCTURE coursework and FMP practical examination
EXCURSIONS / WORK EXPERIENCE regular theatre visits, visits from external companies and practitioners, regular projects with professional companies
