Course description
You will discover:
• The types of jobs that are open to you in travel, tourism and hospitality
• Places in the world where you could work
You will learn the theory and practice of:
• Dealing with customers
• Selling goods and services
• Marketing travel and tourism
You will take part in:
• Organising an event
• Trips to attractions
• An overseas residential
• Team-work and problem-solving.
The course is designed to be as practical as possible so that you will enjoy a wide range of experiences to help you understand the content of the units. Assignments are marked internally and are based on practical issues within the industry. There will be a unit that involves planning a residential visit in the country. There is also an opportunity to take part in an overseas residential, which in the past has included Mallorca, Turkey and Cyprus.
There are six compulsory units:
• Travel and Tourism Today
• The Business of Travel and Tourism
• Marketing Travel and Tourism Products and Services
• Tourist Destinations
• Working in the Travel and Tourism Industry
• Customer Service in Travel and Tourism
and twelve specialist units:
• The Cruise Industry
• Tourism Development
• Special Interest Tourism
• Holiday Representatives
• Incoming and Domestic Tourism
• Conferences, Exhibitions and Events
• Tourism in the Countryside
• Visitor Attractions
• Hospitality Operations in Travel and Tourism
• Handling Air Passengers
• Animating and Entertainment in Tourism
• Residential Study Visit.
A range of additional qualifications is also available: Introductory Certificate in Hospitality, Customer Service, First Aid, Languages and Maths/English GCSE retakes.
Final award
Edexcel (BTEC) National Diploma in Travel and Tourism (equivalent to 3 A-levels)

This course is offered at our Abingdon Campus only.
*Students aged 16-18 will not be required to pay the full course fee, in most cases your fee will not exceed £150. Please contact us if you need more information regarding fees for full-time courses.
