Full Time BTEC Introductory Diploma in Performing Arts
Course Description:
This programme offers students the opportunity to take a nationally recognised, level 1 qualification in one year. This gives learners who are successful on the programme the choice of progression onto a Level 2 course in the following year.
Content
By studying Performing Arts, you will learn about:
-working in a performing arts environment
-the different types of jobs available to you
-the different types of organisations you could work in
-developing your skills in practice and production, (performing, technical and administration), so you can understand all the elements involved in staging a show
-developing personal skills that will improve your career opportunities.
Alongside this learners will also study two units that provide skills that can be used in any future career: Starting Work Skills and Social Responsibility these include learning about Health and Safety, the law and personal hygiene
All learners will be allocated a Personal Tutor who will guide and support them through the year. All courses start with an induction programme to assist learners to settle into college.

Assessment and Progression:
All BTEC coursework is internally assessed regularly and externally verified annually. There are no exams. All students aged 16-19 will follow an appropriate Basic Skills programme of Application of Number, Communication and IT linked to their coursework. Assessment will be via a portfolio of evidence and external tests.
Progression
On successful completion of the course, students are encouraged to move onto a level 2 course, enabling them to further develop their skills and knowledge on all aspects of their chosen profession.
