City and Guilds Certificate in Children's Care, Learning and Development

Course Details

The programme is designed to provide the underpinning knowledge that supports the NVQ Level 2 in Children's Care, Learning and Development and is one of the qualifications for the Foundation Modern Apprentice in Childcare, Learning and Development. The course is designed to build on the learning gained from a Level 1 course. The course emphasis is on 'learning by doing' and will suit learners who are stronger on practical work.

Qualifications required:
Level 1 achievement in Health and Social Care or Child Studies at Merit or above. Entry 3 Basic Skills in Communication or equivalent. A clean CRB check is required. A commitment to a future in childcare or early years education is essential.

13 hours per week in college in addition to placement.

Progression:
Employment as a Nursery Assistant and continue training as a Foundation Modern Apprentice at Level 2 whilst employed.
