Attendance
You are expected to be available to attend college for 15 hours per week approximately two and a half days each Week

Course description
This course will provide you with the skills and vocational qualifications so that you can work in a horticulture related environment. It includes a large amount of practical, outdoor training. You will also be required to attend key skills sessions up to level 2 after an initial assessment. You must commit to 100% attendance

Course Structure

• Monitor and maintain health and safety
• Develop personal performance and maintain work relationships
• Prepare sites for landscaping
• Establish plants outdoors
• Maintain general amenity turf
• Establish and develop decorative amenity areas
• Use and maintain equipment and machinery

Course Assessment
Assessment through observed and written assessment and candidate compilation of portfolio of evidence

Course Entry requirements

• Level 1 qualification in Horticulture
• Substantial experience in Horticulture
• All applicants must complete an initial assessment in Maths and English and attend an interview

Course Costs
There are no course fees if you are under 19 years old on 31 August 2010. However, you may have to pay for textbooks, personal kits, uniforms, trips and personal stationery. You will be informed of these at your interview.

Activities such as trips and visits will be arranged, which are beneficial to this course and your learning. These activities are optional and additional fees will be charged to you. Details will be provided at the time of interview.

There are a number of enrichment activities available during this course including educational visits and work experience opportunities

Course Progression
You may have the opportunity to progress onto NVQ Level 3 Horticulture
