Who is the programme for? This Foundation Degree is for suitably qualified people with an interest in complementary therapies and aims to meet the rising demand in the complementary therapy field. The programme has been specifically designed to provide people with advanced knowledge and experience of the practical and theoretical expertise required in this ever developing industry. Progression into the clinical field will be enhanced through this programme.

What will I study? Entry to the Programme?

How is it assessed? There are a number of assessment methods, including practical and research based course-work assignments, delivering seminar presentations, portfolio submissions, examinations, report writing, essays, work based learning, demonstrations and practical project work.

Future prospects? The programme will provide a platform for entry into the expanding complementary therapies industry, or to continuing higher education at Honours Degree level. Upon successful completion of the Foundation Degree you may wish to take up the guaranteed progression route to an Honours Degree. Progression is onto the final year of the BSc (Hons) Complementary Therapy in Practice at the university partner that has validated the programme.

When will the programme start? The programme will start in September 2010

How long will it take? This programme is available as full or part-time study. Full-time study will take 2 years, part-time study will take 2-4 years. There will be 2 x 15 weeks semesters per academic year, these being September to December and January to May. For full-time students there is an expected attendance of 15 hours per week. Part-time students will need to negotiate their weekly attendance with their programme leader.

What about the Money? St Helens College is committed to providing value for money higher education programmes, therefore programme fees for Honours Degrees and Foundation Degrees for 2010/11 will be 2,100* per year for full time programmes.
