Assessment: Module Grade Descriptors
Associated with each module are grade descriptors. These list the evidence you will need to provide to pass the module. Modules may be passed at either Pass, Merit or Distinction grade and the grade descriptors show Pass, Merit and Distinction grade descriptors. Typically a module may show 6 pass grade descriptors, 3 merit grade descriptors and 2 distinction grade descriptors.
Assessment
For each module you will be given a series of assignments. Each assignment will clearly describe what you must do. They provide opportunities to provide the evidence required to achieve all the pass, merit and distinction grades. It is a requirement of your enrolment on this course that all assignments are completed on
time.
Recording Evidence
Your lecturers maintain a record of the evidence you have supplied, by means of the assessments, for each module. At the completion of each taught module you will have been provided with opportunities to achieve all the pass, merit and distinction grades.
Module Grades
At the completion of each taught module you will be awarded either a pass grade, a merit grade or a distinction grade. To achieve a distinction grade you must have provided the evidence for all the pass grade descriptors, all the merit grade descriptors and all the distinction grade descriptors. If you do not provide sufficient evidence for any particular grade descriptor or if the evidence you do supply is not of the required standard then you will be referred for that descriptor. This means that you will be given a further opportunity to provide the evidence required, to the required standard, for that particular grade descriptor.
