Course Details

Eight Units: Health and Safety Workplace communications Construction technology Scaffolding Preparation of surfaces Application of paints by brush and roller Hanging basic wallpapers Decorative effects NOTE: The course includes one externally set examination to cover the eight units. Full time learners will also study: Key Skills

Qualifications required:
GCSE grade A*-G in Maths and English. Mature learners will be considered subject to successful interview. An interest in painting and decorating is essential. Full attendance is critical to achieve this award. An initial assessment may be carried out prior to an offer of a place.

Course hours:
If you are aged under 19 you will attend for 17 hours per week. If you are aged 19+ you will attend 15 hours per week.

Additional info:
Learners will be required to provide their own boots, overalls and stationery equipment. Safety footwear must be worn in all workshops. We do not allow the use of safety trainers except in painting and decorating where this is appropriate.
