Course Details
How to make and fit frames, doors and staircases Construct roofs and floors Plan, use and interpret drawings, measurements and written instructions Use woodworking machines and portable power tools Maintenance Basic Joinery techniques These courses are for people aged 16 - 19 who want to work in the Carpentry and Joinery trade. During the first year you will spend 19 weeks at the College's Queen's Gardens Centre and 29 weeks on a work placement with an employer. In the second year only 8 weeks are spent in the College and 40 weeks with your employer. In the third year you will attend college on day release. You will achieve the Construction Diploma Level 1 and 2 alongside NVQ Level 2 together with additional qualifications and key skills. Safety footwear must be worn in all workshops. We do not allow the use of safety trainers.
Progression:
After the CSkills course, which helps you learn all the craft skills, you may decide to take further qualifications leading to a job as a manager, supervisor, quantity or building surveyor or a site agent etc.
