Alternatively enthusiasm and commitment for art and design plus a portfolio of artwork and or/a Level One Introductory Diploma in Art and Design. Mature students with an interest in Art and Design but no formal qualifications are welcome to apply.

EDEXCEL (BTEC) First Diploma in Art and Design

Course Details

This programme has been designed to enable learners with a strong creative leaning to access vocational art and design study. The level two programme allows for broad based art and design study in core subject areas such as drawing, history of art and design and visual communication and meaning. Key skills support the studies and are progressively developed throughout the course. The course enables learners to experience printmaking, graphics, fashion and textiles, ceramics, computer aided design (CAD), 3D design, fine art and photography. Visits to galleries and field trips are an essential part of the programme. There are opportunities to undertake additional studies to run in parallel with the programme and may include GCSE retakes in English or Maths if required. Core Units: 2D and 3D Visual Communication, Contextual References in Art and Design, Explore and Develop Art and Design Ideas, Produce an Art and Design Outcome. Specialist Units include: Graphic Design, Photography, Fashion Design, Textiles, 3D Design, Visual Arts, 3D Design Crafts.
