You are expected to be available to attend college Monday to Friday 9am to 4.30pm

Course Description
This course is designed to develop a range of employability skills and techniques essential for success in the sport and leisure industry. Learners will be able to develop an understanding of the sport and leisure sector through specialised studies and practical application. Learners will be able to develop personal fitness/sporting ability and apply coaching / instructing skills

Course Structure
Diploma (360 hours) - 6 units

Core and Specialist Units :
  • The Body in Sport
  • Health Safety in Sport
  • The Sports Industry
  • Practical Sport
  • Preparation for Sport
  • Instructing Physical Activity


Course Assessment
The course is internally assessed by means of performance observations, assignments, presentations, reports and projects.

Course Entry Requirements
  • 5 GCSE grades D and above including English
  • BTEC Introductory Diploma in Sport Level 1

  • All applicants must complete an initial assessment in Maths and English and attend an interview


Course Costs
There are no course fees if you are under 19 years old on 31 August 2010. However, you may have to pay for textbooks, personal kits, uniforms, trips and personal stationery. You will be informed of these at your interview.

Course Enrichment
Activities such as trips and visits will be arranged, which are beneficial to this course and your learning. These activities are optional and additional fees will be charged to you. Details will be provided at the time of interview.
