EDEXCEL (BTEC) National Diploma in Art and Design (Graphic Design)

Course Details

The National Diploma in Graphic Design is structured around eighteen units which includes professional, work-based units and realistic work environment for those who wish to go into employment, and will prepare you for progression into higher education. You will undertake exciting design assignments which cover typography, advertising, corporate identity, editorial design, packaging, brand management, illustration and CAD/Web design (Photoshop/Illustrator). You will be taught by committed and enthusiastic staff with relevant industry experience. Live projects are a fundamental part of this course working with both employers and other community links. Previous successes in National Competitions include ?Starpack? and ?Design Against Fur?. Industry standard software is available on all Macs in our excellent studio facilities. Extensive employer links ensure successful work experience and subsequent employment for those choosing this route. Key skills are integrated into the main programme and will be developed to a high standard throughout your programme.

Qualifications required:
3 GCSEs (grades A to C) or a First Diploma in Art and Design plus a portfolio of art and design work. Mature students with an interest in Graphic Design are also welcome to apply.

Advice on materials/costs will be provided at the first class.

Progression:
Further study at Higher National Certificate/Diploma or Degree in Graphic Design or related areas including advertising, editorial design, illustration, multimedia and interactive design. There is guaranteed progression to Degree level at the Hull School of Art and Design on successful completion of this course. Recent employment opportunities have included junior positions in design, reprographics, brand management and web design.
