About this course

You will need a good standard of numeracy and literacy, a grade C at GCSE would be preferred. Science would be an advantage, but is not essential. An interest in becoming employed in the electrical installation trade is important and will need to be demonstrated at interview.

Introduction
This worthwhile post secondary course gives you the chance to obtain a skill in the Electrical Installation Industry.

Description
The course will give you a broad-based understanding of the industrial sector, including electrical maintenance, electrical fitting, servicing, security and alarms. Students will have to successfully pass two exams - Electrical Installation Theory & Practice and Associated Electronics and complete three assignments to achieve the award. Key Skills which includes information technology, application of number and communications are also part of the programme, and a portfolio evidence must be collected.

Mainly theory supported by practical workshop based activities, this will give the student basic skills in electrical installation practice.

Progression
Level 2/3 Electrical Installation if suitable employment is found in the trade. Students will also have the opportunity to join the Modern Apprenticeship scheme.
