If you are interested in a career in the Electrical Contracting Industry then this course is aimed at you. It can be studied on either a full-time or part-time basis. You could be a school leaver, or a mature person who is looking for a career change, and this would be the ideal opportunity to learn new skills and gain entry into an exciting new career where you would have the opportunity to explore your practical ability.

What will I learn?
The course will contain the basic competences you will need for entry into the Electrical Contracting Industry. Five main units are needed for the NVQ Level 1: Wiring electrical circuits using lighting circuits, socket circuits and relay powered circuits. Assembling electronic component circuits using resistors, capacitors, transistors and various semi-conductor components including integrated circuits. The other three units of Health & Safety, Working Efficiently and Effectively and Communication present various tasks throughout the year which are referenced to your NVQ Level 1.

How will I be assessed?
You would be regularly assessed throughout the year with three end of year exams, one electrical practical, one electronic practical and one online assessment to gain an extra qualification (C&G 2800, World of Engineering).

What can I do after the course?
On successful completion of the Level 1 NVQ you could then progress to the Level 2 Certificate in Electrotechnical Technology, City & Guilds 2330 programme.
