Course Description:
Course Content:
The award is a mixture of classroom theory work and hands-on practical engineering essentials, such as mathematics and science, and additional engineering units to give the
opportunity to progress to a National Diploma course.
Assessment:
The First Diploma is completed by successful submission of assignment work on a unit by unit basis.
Next Steps:
This course is designed to be extremely flexible and allow you to progress academically, as well as vocationally, by giving a sound grounding in engineering practices. If you are successful in obtaining passes in all the above units, you can progress to the National Diploma course. Alternatively, you may wish to seek employment and apply for an Advanced Apprenticeship Level 3.

Entry Requirements:
You will need a minimum of four GCSEs at grade E or above, although ideally you will have maths at Grade D, or alternatively, a pass in the Performing Engineering Operations course or an Introductory Certificate in a related subject. Your numeracy and literacy skills will also be assessed at interview and entry will be conditional on a successful interview. If you are a mature applicant, you may need no formal entry qualifications, but you will complete an initial assessment to ensure that your literacy and numeracy skills are suitable for the course.
